Juan Carlos del Valle

Mexico City, 1975

A rigorously trained painter, Juan Carlos del Valle has developed a realistic visual language characterized by the alteration of aesthetic stereotypes and contemporary mythologies. Well aware of the expressive power of chromatic moods and materiality, the artist has transformed the portraiture genre into a protagonist that allows him to reveal desires, fantasies, and our deepest fears.

Whether as faces, intervened self-portraits, dark atmospheres or portraits of processed foods, the undercurrent of his painting is the ongoing duality of the representation of reality and the pictorial evocation of what is truly real. He lives and works in Mexico City.
